Style Over Fashion
Personal style can be…well - personal. Universally it’s how we find a way to express ourselves and kind of a way to rock how we feel. But try as we might, a lot of us start to blend in. Nothing wrong with blending in right? The thing about fashion now more than ever - is that it changes as quickly as our moods. Is that a good thing?
Pandemic year 2020 changed my style to what I’ve now defined as “uber comfy casual”. It’s a style my husband rather hates, and I love. It’s perfect for Netflix-ing, Instacart-ing, and just about any other -ing that requires minimum to no human interaction. I used to love a pair of heels, albeit at a reduced height, and a cute little something that meant eating past a particular hour would not be ideal, nor as flattering as I’d prefer. Nowadays my personal style matches the life that I am living. As a business owner and photographer, my uniform has become muted tones, all blacks, and more “around the way girl” than “IT girl”. Still getting used to it.
I shop (ha!) at all of my favs, just exclusively online. I prefer matching sets and dresses - it makes getting dressed easy when you know what goes with what or that you have a complete look in one go.
All of these things are important because it’s simple evidence that shows how much my style has changed. I want my clients to remember that when we get together it’s to resolve a need. I won’t be able to get their normal back, but I’ll certainly pull their personal style out!
I am wondering what my friends will look like the next time we see each other. Does anyone remember how to apply makeup?
